On February 22, 2025, a fire broke out on the Carnival Glory shortly after departing Nassau. The fire reportedly began when a towel draped over a chair on a Deck 6 balcony started to smoulder before eventually igniting into flames. The blaze caused significant damage to the chair, and heavy smoke was seen inside the adjacent cabin and hallway. Thankfully, the crew acted swiftly to extinguish the fire before it could spread further, preventing any injuries or major damage.
Carnival Cruise Line has a robust fire management system on all ships, including alarms, detectors, sprinklers, and a highly trained fire response team. As a result, the ship’s operations continued as planned without disruption, and the incident did not impact the rest of the voyage. An internal investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess whether all safety protocols were followed.

Passenger Claims of Mistreatment After the Incident
While the fire was swiftly contained, one passenger, Tatianna Chuitian, expressed frustration over the treatment she and her friends received from the crew in the aftermath of the incident. Chuitian claimed that although they were cleared of any wrongdoing, they were subjected to intense questioning by the crew. She alleged that the crew members pressured them, even threatening to involve the FBI and Coast Guard if they were found to be lying.
In addition to this, Chuitian and her friends claimed they were required to take pregnancy tests. Medical professionals have since clarified that pregnancy tests are standard in certain emergency medical situations to ensure the safety of unborn babies during medical treatment, but the passengers suspected that the tests may have been used to test for drugs instead.
Furthermore, Chuitian said they were not allowed to photograph their written statements, pressured into signing waivers, and claimed that their belongings were damaged during the ordeal. Carnival Cruise Line has not responded directly to these accusations but has stated that an investigation into the situation is ongoing.
Carnival Glory Continues Its Journey Despite the Incident
Despite the passenger claims, it is clear that the swift actions of the Carnival Glory’s crew were instrumental in preventing a much larger disaster. Carnival Cruise Line prides itself on its comprehensive fire safety systems, which include regular drills and training for all crew members. These safety measures ensure that any fire-related emergency can be dealt with quickly, even when passengers are unaware of the seriousness of the situation.
After the fire was extinguished and the passengers were questioned, the Carnival Glory continued its scheduled itinerary without any further interruptions. The 110,000-gross-ton Conquest-class ship departed Port Canaveral for its next voyage, a 4-night Bahamas itinerary, with all systems running as normal.
