Royal Caribbean Drops an @

Royal Caribbean has dropped “at” from Perfect Day at CocoCay, renaming its popular Bahamas destination Perfect Day CocoCay. Here’s what the change means.

“Perfect Day at CocoCay” Is Now “Perfect Day CocoCay”

Sometimes a major cruise-line change arrives with fireworks, press releases and a fleet of ships sailing into a new port. Other times, it is just one tiny word quietly disappearing from the name of a destination millions of passengers already know.

That is exactly what has happened at Royal Caribbean, which has dropped the word “at” from the name of its enormously popular private destination in The Bahamas. The destination previously known as Perfect Day at CocoCay is now being branded Perfect Day CocoCay. The change may sound comically minor, but the cruise line is treating it as an intentional branding adjustment. Royal Caribbean has removed “at” from its website, marketing materials, booking engine and even reservation documentation, rather than simply changing a graphic here or there.

And yes, Royal Caribbean even had a little fun with it.

Royal Caribbean Turns the Name Change Into a Joke

Instead of issuing a dry corporate announcement, the cruise line released a playful social-media video on August 27 featuring a performer dressed as a pirate welcoming guests to the island. Every time she tried to say “Perfect Day at CocoCay,” the word “at” was effectively censored, before she finally delivered the new version: “Welcome to Perfect Day CocoCay!”

That tongue-in-cheek approach is worth noting because the island itself has not suddenly been remodeled, renamed geographically or turned into a different port of call. It is a branding change, plain and simple.

How the Name Conforms to Royal Caribbean’s New Branding

Royal Caribbean has been aggressively expanding its collection of private and exclusive destinations. CocoCay was transformed from a relatively low-key private island into a much more ambitious vacation destination in 2019. Today, guests can find complimentary beaches, Oasis Lagoon, included dining locations and other amenities alongside paid attractions such as Thrill Waterpark, Hideaway Beach, Coco Beach Club, cabanas and the island’s 1,600-foot zip line.

The cruise line is now building an entire family of destination brands around that concept.

Royal Caribbean has introduced Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in The Bahamas, is developing Royal Beach Club Cozumel in Mexico, and had plans (now paused) for a Perfect Day Mexico as a future destination. The company has also discussed additional private-destination projects, including Lelepa in Vanuatu. With the removal of the “at”, Perfect Day Coco Cay follows a similar, preposition-less naming scheme as the other resorts in the Royal Caribbean portfolio.

CocoCay Is Still a Major Part of Royal Caribbean Cruises

Don’t mistake the name change for a sign that CocoCay is becoming less important. Quite the opposite.

Royal Caribbean continues to feature the destination heavily across its Caribbean cruise schedules, with current 2026 itineraries showing ships docking at Perfect Day CocoCay for full daytime visits. The cruise line describes it as an exclusive Royal Caribbean destination where admission is complimentary and many activities and dining options are included.

Recent developments also show that Royal Caribbean isn’t finished tweaking the island. In July 2026, a new Secret Garden Bar opened on the north side of CocoCay, giving passengers a quieter spot with shaded seating, books and a small bar away from some of the island’s busier attractions. The cruise line has also continued adjusting food and beverage options. In August, new signature drinks appeared on the standard CocoCay menu, including the Passion Fruit Mai Tai, Tiki ‘Mosa and Hugo Spritz.

We might be saying goodbye to the “at”, but the island itself isn’t going anywhere.
